When the rate of spam emails Sunlover Cruises was receiving grew to one in two, the company's IT Consultant, Clive Barber, decided something had to be done.
Clive approached CITEC with a request to trial the MessageLabs anti-spam and anti-virus solutions, as he had previous experience using MessageLabs in Europe.

“Our staff were losing valuable time sifting through emails to determine which ones were legitimate, and we were incurring unnecessary bandwidth and storage costs because of all the unwanted emails,” Clive said.
“We were also more vulnerable to virus attacks, and as a private cruise operator in a very competitive industry, we could not afford the downtime that a virus attack would cause.”
By the time Sunlover Cruises had completed a free month-long trial of the anti-spam and anti-virus solutions, management within Sunlover were sold on the benefits and signed up immediately.
“We are a small company and the ability that MessageLabs provides us in the area of security is invaluable,” Clive said.
“Having used MessageLabs before, I knew the saving that it could have for our business, compared with investing in infrastructure to increase security.
“The MessageLabs solutions suit us perfectly, because they are externally managed and we know that they are constantly updated as new email virus and spam techniques emerge.
“However, whilst they are external, being able to administer certain aspects from my office was also important. Their web access program, Insight, gives me this control.
“There is also no geographical barrier with these solutions.
“We are based in Cairns, and CITEC is based in Brisbane but the solutions were implemented within one day of us completing the application form, which was done via email.”
