CITEC is a commercial business unit of the Queensland Government operating under The Department of Customer Services, Open Data and Small and Family Business (CDSB).
CITEC Confirm is an information brokerage service providing access for our registered clients to a number of datasets from information owners and third-party service providers. In providing these services, CITEC Confirm is enabling the disclosure of personal information held on these datasets to our registered clients, within the limitations prescribed by the information owners and third-party service providers.
Please ensure you have read the following, together with the CITEC Confirm Terms and Conditions of Use, before you use the CITEC Confirm service.
Your privacy
We are committed to protecting users’ privacy. We manage personal information in accordance with CDSB’s Privacy Policy and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld).
By using our website or our services, or by providing any personal information to us, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as set out in this Privacy Policy.
The types of personal information we collect and hold
- name, address, company or organisation (if applicable), and contact details (such as telephone number and email address)
- details of your usage of our products or services
- other personal information required to provide specific services.
Use and disclosure of personal information
Business operations
CITEC Confirm collects and uses personal information for a range of business operations, including:
- to set up an account with CITEC Confirm
- to provide the products and services requested from us
- to process payments
- to answer inquiries made
- to administer our databases for client service and financial accounting purposes and
- to comply with our legal obligations in relation to the collection, use and retention of information concerning the products and services we provide.
Third parties
To fulfil service delivery obligations, CITEC Confirm may need to make requests to third-party partners and service providers, which can involve sharing personal identifiers where necessary to process the request.
The third parties to whom we may disclose your personal information for these purposes include:
- State and Territory Land Registries
- Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)
- Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA)
- Equifax Pty Ltd, and its subsidiary, EDX Australia Pty Ltd
- County Court of Victoria
- Queensland Magistrates Court
- Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal

Where personal information is shared with third parties, we ensure that appropriate contractual arrangements are in place. These agreements strictly limit the use and disclosure of your information to the extent necessary to deliver the relevant services and require compliance with the relevant privacy laws, to safeguard your personal information.
Marketing
We may also collect and use your personal information to:
- notify you about new CITEC Confirm services and products
- inform you of events and seminars that may be of interest to customers and email subscribers
- send you newsletters and other promotional or marketing communications
- promote our services and improve customer engagement and communication.
If you do not wish to receive direct marketing communications from us, you may opt out at any time by contacting our Customer Service Centre, or by following the unsubscribe instructions in the communication you receive.
Surveys
From time to time, we may invite you to participate in surveys or questionnaires on the CITEC Confirm website or via email through a third-party provider. Participation in these surveys is voluntary and may involve providing identifiable personal information.
CITEC Confirm uses Alchemer as its third-party survey tool provider. Survey data may be transferred outside Australia and securely stored on Alchemer’s servers in the United States of America.

Storage and our commitment to the protection of personal information
We store personal information in a combination of computer storage facilities, paper-based files and other records, located within Australia.
In so doing, we have taken numerous steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference and loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps include password protection and access privileges for accessing our IT system, and physical access restrictions to paper files.
Where we provide personal information to third parties, we use contractual measures to protect this information. Additionally, we take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify personal information when it is no longer required by law.
The internet is not a secure method of transmitting information. Accordingly, other than where we use secure socket layer technology (SSL) to ensure information is securely transmitted and processed, we cannot and do not accept responsibility for the security of information you send to or receive from us over the internet, or for any unauthorised access or use of that information.
Cookies
To improve your experience on our site, we use “cookies”. Cookies are an industry standard and most major websites use them.
A cookie is a small text file that our site may place on your computer as a tool to remember your preferences. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however if you do this, you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.
A cookie is not an executable program and cannot do anything to your machine. A server cannot find out a name or email address, or anything about a user’s computer, by using cookies and cookie information is not stored or collected by CITEC Confirm.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics software to collect information about how you use the Confirm website. This includes IP addresses.
We do this to help:
- make sure the website is meeting the needs of its users
- make improvements, for example improving website navigation or layout.
Google Analytics processes anonymised information about:
- the pages you visit on the Confirm website
- how long you spend on each Confirm page
- how you got to the website
- what you click on while you’re visiting the website.
We do not store your personal information through Google Analytics (for example your name or address).
We will not identify you through analytics information, and we will not combine analytics information with other datasets in a way that would identify who you are.

The Queensland Government applies a range of security controls to protect its websites from unauthorised access. Email and feedback
Email correspondence we receive will be managed in accordance with our obligations under the Public Records Act 2023 (Qld) and other relevant Acts and regulations.
Although every effort will be made, CITEC Confirm cannot guarantee to reply to emails. Some emails received through this website may be forwarded to other Queensland Government agencies for appropriate action.
We use Vision6 which provides online tools that can be used to create, send, and manage emails and text messages. Vision6 may collect personal information, such as distribution lists which contain email addresses and phone numbers, and other information relating to those email addresses and phone numbers.
CITEC Confirm will only use Vision6 to:
- create, send and manage emails and text messages relating to CITEC Confirm and its products and services
- measure email and text message campaign performance.
You can opt out of our mailing list by using the “unsubscribe” function provided in all emails and text messages that we send using Vision6, or by contacting our Customer Service Centre.

If you want to access or amend personal information that CITEC Confirm holds about you, you should contact us in the first instance.
