More information through a digital plan (LandXML) file is now available when ordering some imaged plans via NSW land searches.
A digital plan file contains extra information about a lot that can’t be adequately captured in the plan image, including:
- new lots
- new roads
- survey connections
- control marks and connections to them.
Surveyors submit the file along with the plan image as part of the plan registration process. The file helps to reduce errors and improve accuracy as PDF plans will use validated survey data.
Digital plan files in NSW are increasingly becoming available. Ashley Booth, Director of CITEC Information Brokerage (Confirm), shared:
We’re excited to introduce digital plans as part our NSW lands offering. Digital plans provide another avenue for our customers to obtain detailed land information, assisting with tasks such as planning and design.
If a digital plan file is available when ordering a plan, you can download it along with your imaged plan at no additional cost.
This update coincides with the NSW Digital Survey Plan (DSP) Program requirement for surveyors to lodge LandXML files with certain plans from 1 July 2026.
The NSW Department of Customer Service Spatial Services have also been digitising plans as part of the Survey Plan Digitisation Project.
